I learned a big lesson in the past few years in that you can never assume you know exactly where life is taking you. I had no idea that I would ever be living outside my own country, much less running a business. And I learned that opening business in brazil is not all that hard, as long as you get the right help to guide you through the process. Everything has worked out so well, and it had been an interesting ride.
It all started when I went to a Brazil as a young student. My parents sent me there for a 2 month break over the summer. My brother came with me, and we had a lot of fun. We returned a bit wearier, happier and wiser. While my sibling really liked visiting there, I wanted to move there. But I put my dream off for a long time with the belief that it would never be possible. My brother thought that I was wasting my time dreaming about it as well.
After I graduated, I kept coming back to my dream. I was working for a rather large company as an executive, but I wanted to be my own boss. At some point, I was in a business meeting when we discussed expanding to other countries. That is when I heard someone say the word “Brazil” would be our first choice. I was stunned! No one else in our company had even been there, much less wanted to move there, so I knew that I was the perfect person to do all the research.
After discussing the situation with my superiors, they gave me the go ahead do all the researching that we needed to figure out whether our business would thrive there. I hooked up with a business that provided me some consulting. That helped, but I did a lot of the work myself, too.
